The Pier is to Santa Monica.... Times Square is to New York City?

As I weave through the tourists (who am I kidding, I'm sure I blended more than weaved) I can't help but wonder if this is true. Do people that live in Santa Monica ever go to the Santa Monica Pier? I of course found it endlessly entertaining to wander and people watch in this foreign territory for the last few hours, but I think it's safe to assume that locals avoid it like the plague - or like New Yorkers avoid Times Square...

oh well.. I thought it was fun.

NYC, I miss you. But I guess I can't complain with palm trees and the beach in my back yard for the next few days...

Hope everyone's having a wonderful holiday weekend!

  1. Hey Jess!! Hope you are enjoying lovely SoCal!

I only went to the pier twice in my six months in LA, but I loved it. I'm not a fan of lots of tourists (I avoid Hollywood at all costs) and the Pier is beautiful and lots of fun.

Anyway though, if you want to know from someone who lives there - my guy lives in Santa Monica and avoids the Pier like the plague unless his nieces/nephews come to town. That's literally the only time you can get him anywhere close to that chaos, haha.

    Hope you're doing well!

  2. Yea I figured it wasn't really a choice destination for locals :) Fun to visit though, especially when its walking distance from where you're staying!! Love walking along Ocean Ave.

    Hope all is well! xo
